Finally found ArtRage for the Mac, and decided to test it out.

ArtRage3 is definitely easier to manipulate than the previous PC version I'd been using, and a bit more intuitive with the tablet on the Mac. The following is the first test.

So, I haven't posted since March--which is about the time I started Student Teaching at the High School level. Coincidence? I doubt it. I haven't done much in the way of creating anything in the last couple months, so forgive the lack of updates.

My B, as the kids say.

With that said, I have been doing some other things to keep myself busy. Such as moving. Shaking. Rattling, also rolling, etc.,.

Speaking of moving. I'm quite proud of my new set-up. A set-up which should allow me no excuses in regards to creating or working on art-related things.

Check it:

DUAL MONITORS. I scored that little doggle for my Macbook, the one that allows me to hook it up to a separate monitor. So, lets just say I did that. And by vaguely suggesting that, I mean I totally did.

So two monitors, hooked to the Mac. Tablet in tow. Now, its just a matter of remembering how to use the tablet in accordance with the Mac, as opposed to the PC, which is now collecting some dust.

As it should.

ALSO. You might have noticed that slick little Batman statue. And by 'little' I mean decently sized. Large. Adequate. Its Jim Lee based, from the DC Universe Online Collector's Edition (which, thanks to SONY, I haven't been able to play). So that's my Batman statue. And I might be in love with it. But you didn't hear that from me.

Now that that's out of the way. I should make something. But I'm bereft of ideas. So, if you feel so inclined--Hit me up, I work pretty cheap.

Its no mystery that I enjoy giant monsters and Japanese monster costumed antics. Nor that I really dig Ultraman. I read Newton Gimmick's review of Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends (that's a mouthfull.) over on his site Infinite Hollywood.

I had heard about the movie back in '09, and really liked the design of Belial. Then I forgot about it. After peeping the review, I was reminded, and then got to peeping the actual movie.

It's pretty awesome if you like watching guys in monster suits fight. That being said, I doodled and inked a Belial picture.

Not too-too long ago, I had the idea for a children's book. I did a series of water color illustrations for the book. The idea of a same sex Godzilla children's book is really neat to me. What better way to express the idea of equality than to tell that story with Godzilla? Or better yet: Two Godzillas.

Godzilla is a beast born as a metaphor, and at his strongest when he IS a metaphor for something...why not use him as another?

I feel like Rex is such a ridiculous character, but insanely marketable. He reminds me of something from the mid 90's, where everything was eXTREEM, and insane.

I was talking to a buddy of mine, and we're looking into making a quick/easy (easy for someone who knows how to do it) flashgame based on Rex Jetpack. So, we'll see how that goes. Where we want a Physics Based T-Rex Game, it might only be possible to make a Gradius style game. ( Gradius )

Which is fine by me, because I love Gradius.

Does any one else know anything about making flash games, or weird 2d games? I'm curious.

What follows are some of the pieces I've done for my Methods & Materials of Art Education class. I'll go so far as to say that its my own spin on the assignments given. Not everyone did something like this.

First up is the Rainforest craypas project, done on black paper.

Then there's this one...A "Special place" project, where we did different treatments to white paper, like dish soap and paint, bubbles and paint, sponges, salt and water colors, etc... Then ripped the pieces of paper to make a landscape.

Mine turned out more like a Mario Bros. background level...

Next is a Spirit Mask project, based on learning about West African Spirit masks.

Each of these pieces has one or two corresponding lesson plans, breaking down what needs to be done to teach such a project.
